The West Coast Kappa Car Club will be re-running last fall’s Pebbles & Rocky run in two weeks.
We start at 9:15am Pacific on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Starting point is Starbucks, 1900 E El Camino Real, Redwood City (just off 101 and 84).
Full details at our Facebook event page but you can register below (please do, especially if you want a seat for lunch and/or dinner). Meal reservations will be based on responses to the form below.
This run departs from Redwood City into the Woodside hills and curves, through Half Moon Bay (for a Dunkin stop). It continues down the coast by way of the Pigeon Point Light Station, on to 17 Mile Scenic Drive at Pebble Beach (hence “Pebbles”), and continuing down to dinner at Rocky Point Restaurant on the coast north of Big Sur (hence “Rocky”).
A printable flyer is located here: 2019-06 Pebbles Rocky Flyer 1.1 (we will have printed versions at the driver meeting as well)
The November run of this route was a bit impaired by air pollution from the fall California fires, so we’re going to try it again with hopefully a larger turnout.
This is a day run, so no “official” event hotel is being designated. For those of you coming from far away, there are hotels nearby from $90 (the farther you get from Carmel, the cheaper they get).
Notable planned stops, costs, and caveats:
- Donut/gas stop at Dunkin/Alliance Gas, 118 San Mateo Rd, Half Moon Bay CA 94019
Peets is next door, Starbucks across the highway
- Lunch: burger.Aptos, 7941 Soquel Dr, Aptos CA 95003 (Menu, $15-30/person)
- Excursion: Scenic 17-Mile Drive at Pebble Beach (Route map, $10.50 cash per car)
- Dinner: Rocky Point Restaurant, 36700 Hwy 1, Big Sur, CA (Menu $30-50/person)
Members in good standing of the West Coast Kappas can participate for “free” – there is no event fee for current members, but any incidentals are your responsibility (food, gas, admission fees, etc).
Also note that the 17 Mile Drive charges cash admission fee of $10.50 per car. Each driver should plan to have cash on hand, or to wait outside the Pebble Beach complex for approximately an hour if you choose not to enter.
We welcome guests as well; you can either submit a waiver form and a $5 event fee (goes toward our insurance and other expenses), or join on the spot and your event fee will be covered for the term of your membership.
How do I get in on the run?
Questions are welcome; you can reply here, post on the Facebook event page, email robert at westcoastkappacar dot club, or use the contact form below to register if you’re Facebook-averse.
Note that this form will be processed through WordPress and the info will be available to the Board of Directors for event planning and management purposes. Meal info will be aggregated to make reservations. Anyone subject to GDPR protections should not use this form.
WordPress is a bit quirky, so make sure you see and use the “submit” button just above.
Hope to see you in Redwood City on the 22nd!
